America Day

Introducing our America Day Co-ordinator Cherie... posing with one of our volunteers trying out the bucking bull!

This was at Henderson Court from 10:30am... at first there were a few technical difficulties with the set up of the mechanical bull, but eventually we got the bull running and many male and female contestants tried their luck on the bull.
To my knowledge, the highest level is level 7 and only Tommy (our HR officer) was the only one able to achieve up to level 5!

Congrats to all those guys and gals who gave the bucking bull a go! Hope you had fun!

We also had a very popular Tacos and Nachos giveaway outside the ANZ ATM which ran out like hot cakes! So try to make it to the area outside the ANZ ATM and join in on the fun and freebies!

Tomorrow, we celebrate Africa Day so come along and dance to the beats of African Drumming or if that's not your thing, we also have some World Vision Seminars lined up!

Oceania Day

Introducing Gavin and Sisilia - Our Oceania Day Co-ordinators who have prepared a great line up of FREE BBQ, Aboriginal Arts Exhibition as well as Chilli Mussel Eating Competition!

Here they are outside the ANZ ATM - where you will find us over the next five days promoting multiculturalism within our community!

Drop by and say hello to us! We have collectible Multicultural Week 2007 postcards for sale as well as raffles draw to win some fantastic prizes. Tickets are only $1 each!

Here is some of our committee members and volunteers hard at work again cooking up a storm this time.

Seems to me there is some sort of molestation going on with Carl our designer trying to shove a balloon into Ming our Chairperson's ass!
Sam, John Paul, Tommy, Sheryl, Arun and other volunteers were also there to help out with the BBQ! It was a great success as people lined up for their free food!

Some happy Curtin students lining up for their FREE burgers... and they got FREE balloons and FREE gift folders as well!!!

So make sure you drop by the area outside the ANZ ATM to recieve free M&M's and also our free gift folders giveaway as well as join in some of the multicultural activities we have lined up for the day! You never know what you might pick up!

The first day has come to the end....four more days to go and a big "Pasar Malam" challenge awaits. To me, it's been great fun. To start my news reports is the BIG AUSSIE BARBIE! A fantastic way of Aussie outdoor catering on the Queen's birthday!

Below: A video taken by our designer Carl, of the growing line for our very popular MCW burgers!

The MCW booth was up at the corridor of the guild arcade (outside ANZ ATM) and we managed to attract quite a lot of attention from people passing through.

The highlight of Oceania Day is the Chilli Mussel eating competition was somewhat beyond my expectation, but it's good fun for those who are "spice / hot" in-tolerant. The winner is awarded with an MCW goodies folder. We also have canvas painting to simulate indigenous arts which were done by people walking by and their artworks were on display for the duration of the day.

The white and orange balloons which we had flying around Curtin Campus symbolises so much of the harmonious atmosphere that we're enjoying on this multicultural campus :)

Side note: Orange is the colour for harmony.

MCW Preparations Part 2

One more day till our first day of Multicultural Week! We had our final meeting today and final touch ups on things that needed to be done... as well as KFC for dinner on Ming.

Here are some more of our volunteers and MCW committee members hard at work packing our goodies folders.

To your right we have our HR Officer slash Deputy Chair 2 slash ISC Soccer Cup Organiser slash Engineering student slash part time worker at a local cafe slash handy-man Tommy Lim the superstar!!!

He drilled the poles and put together the five day pennants for us. What a task!

Check the banners out below. Don't you think they look good? They were a lot of work to organise and think of how to actually hang the poles!

If you recognise the poles at Curtin Uni, drop by and say hello to us!!! =)

Here is some of the members of the MCW 2007 Committee... photo shoot after the banners have been set up! We are such posers =P

Also notice our very cool MCW t-shirts! You can get yours for free if you volunteer... and yes, we're still looking for more volunteers especially on Pasar Malam night. We need more muscly-man power for water distribution on the night! If you're interested, please contact Tommy Lim on 0431 310 810/ mou_square@yahoo.com Come and be part of our (very fun and cool) team!

(Gavin checking out Sisilia's ass! Just joking)
Multicultural Week ... here we come!!!

Preparations for MCW

Pre-Multicultural Week has been busy!

It seems as though a hurricane, storm, earthquake and tornado has swept through the ISC office! As you can see, we have things everywhere! The "goodie folders" which we are going to be giving away each day are slowly being packed with secret goodies... so come along to find out what's in the pack!

We also have very cool collectible postcards that are only available during Multicultural Week 2007! Don't miss out the chance to collect each postcard for each of the 5 representing days with our very funky designs designed by our very own designer - Carl Ong!

We also have a very dedicated committee that is putting in the extra hard work to make MCW 2007 a success. Here we have an anonymous committee member hard at work spray painting poles which are going to hold up our five day pennants. Mind you, we have five, three metre poles to spray and wind blowing everywhere! Who knew that we would use up 4 spray cans! Then comes the waiting game... waiting for the poles to dry.

This is in the guild area at Curtin Uni... look at our very smart idea... putting them in the umbrella stand holes in the table... waiting for them to dry......

Actually... we ran out of spray paint at this time (the bottom of the poles haven't been spray painted yet), so two of our very cool and dedicated committee members drove all the way to Bunnings to get some more spray paint!

Don't forget to check out our five day pennants which will be on show during MCW week! It was a lot of hard work and heart ache at Bunnings, trying to find something that could possibly hold up the banners in a presentable manner!

Soccer ISC Cup Results

The organiser of ISC Soccer Cup, Tommy Lim would like to extend a big thank you to the teams who participated in the ISC Soccer Cup 2007. The finals were at Edinburgh Oval on Saturday 29 September.

Congratulations to the winning team, "The Studs" who won 3-1 against "Ah Bengs Utd." "The Studs" conceded two goals out of six games. Captain, Kevin Mwaura says "
"the ISC cup had the potential to pose more of a challenge but it was still worth my effort to wake up at 8 in the morning to play."

Medals will be presented to the winning team and runners up on the night of Pasar Malam (October 5 from 6pm at Alcoa Court and John Curtin Forum).
